Letting the Words Speak for Your Business

Writing PR

Advertising your business is more than just hanging a sign at the front door. More than this, the sign should include grabbing the attention of individuals and potential customers on several levels. The result will be the ability to attract those who you want to do business with and the ability to keep the concepts of your business in the community. One of the best tools for advertising your business is through the use of public relations writing. By applying a few concepts to writing PR, you will have the ability to let your words speak loudly about your business.

Writing PR should always be focused on reaching individuals at a specific level. However, this can sometimes be difficult, depending on what you are trying to convey with your business. Communicating correctly with those who you wish to reach should be the top priority of your PR writing. Following are some tips that can help to grab the attention of potential customers.

Have a short headline that grabs the attention of customers and provides insight into your identity.

Focus on reaching your target market by the words and phrases that you use, especially in the beginning paragraphs.

Every beginning of PR should have a lead, which will draw the individuals attention and show that you know what you are talking about.

Place the most important information at the beginning of the release.

Don’t use slang or words that are hard to understand.

Don’t use I or we.

Make sure that the writing is directly to the point with your theme and represents your identity as a business.

Your writing and business focus should be newsworthy

Keep it short, simple and to the point.

Put quotes and examples in for support.

Place yourself in the position of editor after you have finished.

Always share knowledge about your business or product as a part of the release.

Ask for action at the end of the PR. (e.g. If you would like more information, contact____).

The key to writing any PR for your business is to focus on how you are going to represent your identity and information. Beyond this, focusing on how to put together the PR will help to grab the attention of potential customers without directly advertising your services. With any PR, you can expect your business to grab more attention by letting the words speak for you.

Building a Culture on the Market

The culture of the twenty-first century in America is one that is moving towards a fast-paced lifestyle, filled with signs and slogans that are designed to help the individual learn to consume and to help them decide what should be consumed. No matter where one turns, there is a sign looking back at you, asking you to pay for them. In Frontline, a PBS special called “The Persuaders”, analyzes the market of consumption, showing the history of persuasion into a culture that is turning into a new market of individuals who buy and sell.

The beginning of “The Persuaders” defines what is taking place in the culture today. Specifically, it is stated that America has turned into a persuasion industry. This means that there is a new culture merging through marketing. This culture is one that is based off of finding consumers to persuade, resulting in them giving out dollars. The result is that every industry is working towards this same persuasion causing a clutter in the market in which businesses have to break through in order to continue to reach the consumer. The question that marketers are left with is how to continue to persuade consumers.

Throughout “The Persuaders,” there are a series of ideas that evolve into how to target individuals into consuming products. Many of these philosophies come from psychological and philosophical backgrounds, and include initiatives such as tying into reason and emotion, and even becoming a pseudo – spiritual market. These particular theories are referred to as learning to communicate at another level, where one moves to the head or the heart.

These are not the only techniques that are being looked at. A well known psychologist, Clotaire Rapaille, believes that there is also a science to consumer’s desires. He refers to this as the reptilian hot button, which states that at the instinctual level, every human has specific wants that they feel are the most important. It is this philosophy, known as breaking the code, which entices individuals to continue buying.

With all of these different concepts of marketing occurring in today’s consumer market, is the question of where our culture is going with marketing. For some, this means that we are becoming a culture of markets, where everything we watch, see and do is part of a sale. This is best referenced by the entertainment advertising, where there is an integration of products into TV shows and other entertainment areas. For others, marketing is becoming an individualized area, where the target markets are determined through demographics, shown through census statistics about each individual and their lifestyle. This gives marketers the ability to sell a product to ‘you.’

“The Persuaders” shows that through the levels of consumerism and marketing is a culture that is turning into the market. Through the various techniques and needs that are shown to sell, marketers are finding ways to convince consumers that they want to buy something because it is already a part of who they are. The techniques that have been developed are ones that are bringing each individual to the products that companies wish for them to consume.

How Coaching Can Help Your Business

If you grew up in a system where you had to go to school, you know that it took a teacher to guide and advise you to understand specific concepts. Once you understood these well enough, you were able to go onto the next grade. If you own a business, you don’t have to try to get to the next level without a teacher! Instead, you can use a coach to make sure that you learn what is needed to continue to grow with your business.

Coaches who are trained to help businesses are ones that know exactly what to look for when you are trying to get to the next level. They have been taught through a series of credentials that help them to evaluate your business and define what you need. By doing so, they can easily consult and administer you into getting through your place in the business world and to the next set of steps that you need to take.

Those who get into coaching can do more than just help you jump into the next grade. There are specific coaches for different needs that you may have. If you already have a business, and have noticed some of the difficult areas for your success, you can work with a coach in order to make the difficult points into something that is much easier. For example, if you are having difficulty managing clients, you can use a coach to find how you can smooth some of the rough edges. The result will be practical tools to build better management skills with clients.

Coaching doesn’t have to stop at helping you smooth out the rough edges that you have with your clients. You can also use these specialized individuals to help you build your market. If you are focusing on a specific target market, why not consult with someone who is familiar with the need to have a reputation. They can provide you with practical guidelines to building a stronger reputation and to give you tools for getting the word out. Beyond this, you can get help for a better brand image or complete marketing strategy. For most that go to a coach to get this advice, they see their business double, simply by following the guidelines that the coaches give.

If you are serious about progressing with your business, your best option is to make sure that you get the help you need to propel forward into the next grade level. Finding a coach to get you to the next level in your business is a way that you can ensure that you have the correct tools and support to succeed.

A Picture is worth a Thousand Words

Creating Your Idenity No Comments »

Imagine that you see a set of buildings lined up on a street. All of the buildings have some unique products, but are mostly the same. It is up to you to decide what door you should go behind, and why. How do you decide on something like this?

As most know, competition in the business world today means finding something that will help you to stand out from the next door neighbor. It is as simple as creating something that will grab someone’s attention and get them in the door.

In the fast-paced world we live in today, customers often do not have the time to research and read through the constant stream of marketing assailing them. They will simply go into the first building that captures their attention. This means one thing to you as a business. A clear visual identity – be it a company logo or brand design – is able to express not just a company’s outlook but even its reputation. An identity system which conveys a sense of stability, innovation and quality is paramount to the success of a growing business in order for the business to continue to get the word out.

The importance of a memorable visual identity is often under-estimated, despite the fact that it is the first point of contact between a business and its potential client. This visual identity is the word that becomes your company’s message. A logo or brand design may appear on business cards, product packaging, pamphlets, websites, emails and letters. It is effectively the “name tag” by which the customer recognizes a company and its products in a store or marketplace.

Company logo design may seem a trivial aspect to business but it is the single marketing tool that will be common and reusable for all offered products and services. As a visual cue, it needs to be meaningful to customers. A clean and stylistic design is aesthetically appealing. An original logo image can be eye-catching and memorable. The challenge of designing a good logo is that it has to exemplify the essence of the business without appearing too complex or distracting.

The establishment of a solid brand identity is regarded today as a requisite investment for a company. Companies such as Intel and Nike have created simple logo designs that have become instantly recognizable all over the world. The designs are considered part of the companies’ intangible assets because of their value through brand recognition. It is especially important for startups and small businesses to establish a powerful visual identity as soon as possible. By relating the product to the logo, customers will begin to associate the logo to other quality products offered by the company. The logo gains value over time with an increasing customer base and recognition. This is a simple way for you to remind your customers of who you are and to get the word out.

A well-designed identity system is the foundation upon which a stronger relationship with the customer may be built. Brand recognition encourages the potential customer to explore products or services offered further. The visual identity system provides the customer with key ideas about your business. It needs to be supported with further information on products and services. An impressive marketing policy is thus a marriage of the visual identity and related verbal or written information; neither can be effective without the other.
